Description

YOU ASKED FOR MORE MANIPS, SO HERE'S A MANIP FOR YOU! :la:

The River

Comments: I've been meaning to do a manipulation with this background for ages now, and finally I was able to plant my butt in the chair and actually finish something, so that's refreshing. :ohnoes: I was experimenting with colors and technique here, hence the leaves that are intended to give the illusion that you're spying on this regal scene. :meow: The thing that almost made me call it quits (I call this the "tipping point") for me was the horse's muzzle. Since the original stock is grazing, there was a lot of... stuff (i.e., grasses, flowers, etc) that were in its face. So I had to repaint the entire face from the cheek down, basically. Not fun.
Anyway, I am ecstatic that I made it through that because I ended up with one of my favorite manips of... well, probably ever. :iconcheerplz: I hope you enjoy!

It is stunning work.
I'm thrilled that you actually carried out the foreground, (the leaves and branches in front of the horse) which is often forgotten in manipulations. I like that blurring in the background also. And I really appreciate the detail in the mane, tail, and feathering on the legs. I also really like the soft lighting on the horse's hip and the sharpness of it. It looks wonderful. The only things I can critique are that it could use a stronger reflection, more noticable. Also, I would love to see the eyes brought out more! I love eyes. People look at the eyes before anything else in the picture because its a natural thing to do. So maybe brighten them up a little by brightening the lids and cheek bone. You don't have to adjust the actual color of the eye to make it pop. (That's if your looking for a natural color to the eyes, which it looks like you are)

All together, beautiful peice! I was very honored to critique you. There is hardly a thing to change. This one really stands out from the other manips, because of that overlaying of the foreground. Nice work. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt="=)" title="=) (Smile)"/>
